Sheridian County Victims' Resource Center

Advocacy & Resource Center staff and volunteers offer clients guidance when filling out protection orders and other forms, attend court hearings with or in place of the victim as permitted and help victims contact attorneys to make sure they are able to communicate their needs. No information is given by legal council and Advocacy & Resource Center suggests contacting an attorney if specific legal information is needed.

Cody, WY Crisis Intervention Services

Agency Description: Crisis Intervention Services (CIS) helps victims of domestic violence, stalking and sexual assault and their children cope with the initial crisis and aftermath of these violent crimes. CIS began providing services in Park County, Wyoming in January 1982. The 24-hour crisis line is staffed by trained peer advocates. Callers receive empathy and peer counseling support for their crisis as well as a chance to discuss their options and receive information and referral pertinent to their individual situation. CIS peer advocates also provide 24 hour crisis intervention meeting face to face with victims at CIS safe houses, Park County hospitals and law enforcement centers. Additionally, these advocates provide crisis intervention at the scene of the crime when requested and accompanied by law enforcement.

CPR staff advocates are available during business hours and after hours in an emergency. During office hours walk ins are welcome or you may call our business number to make an appointment. In addition, we sponsor a 24-hour crisis information line which is answered by volunteer victim advocates. If you have an after-hours emergency staff members are on call to assist with emergency shelter, forensic exams, criminal justice support, or other situations as needed. The mission of Crook County Family Violence and Sexual Assault Services, Inc. is to break the cycle of domestic abuse and sexual assault by providing safe refuge and supportive services that educate and empower victims and their children. Crisis Line Trained staff and advocates are available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Crisis Intervention Advocates and staff are certified by the State of Wyoming and crisis intervention counselors through our 40-hour training course. Individual Peer Counseling Advocates are not licensed counselors but offer emotional support, guidance, problem solving, etc. to victims/survivors. We do not have a shelter, however emergency shelter for one night and emergency transportation may be provided for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their children. Court accompaniment and support, help in filing for Family Violence Protection Orders and Stalking Protection Orders, and help in filing for victim compensation. Personal Advocacy Prevention / Education Programs. Programs are presented to community groups relating to various forms of victimization. Information / Referral / Library Information on domestic violence, sexual assault, victimization, the criminal justice system, victim’s rights and referral to community resources.
