was wondering if anyone else was experiencing pop ups whilst actually  in pandys. its started about a week/two weeks ago. At exactly the same time I've started getting spam email to my email address, which I have never had before because I am EXTREMELY careful about giving my details out. A porn pop up has managed to somehow pop up on my desktop when I switch on, before I'm even on the net, (although I'm broadband, so I'm always connected).

I was wondering in anyone else was having this, as I've never had pop ups whilst in Pandys before, but unfortunatly I can't think of  any where else I have given my email to!

help!

There are no pop-ups on this site. If you have them, it's probably due to spy-ware (from a site other than Pandys). Try a free program like Spybot to check for that.

As for spam...I got loads and loads today because of the new worm out there. Even if you are really careful who gets your address, if someone who has you in their address book or outgoing mail folders becomes infected, it can be sent to you, or to mass-address lists used to send spam.

I hope this helps!

I got this also, I have spent the whole weekend dowloading stuff to delete this. I think I finally have got it, I downloaded some spyware and macafee anti virus and got it. I beleve that it is some nasty worm thing going around because I was also getting some NASTY porn. I thought that it was because I was looking at r*pe info online and got to something gross, but if you got it too than it wasnt me.

There is nothing more annoying than popups and spam you cant get rid of...especially if it's triggering to boot.

I don't think the problem is from Pandy's though. Worms shouldn't be able to access the email list as it is encrypted. However, they can access individual's address books.

When I was having pop-ups (on pandy's and yahoo) I used Spybot, which I got here for free: http://reviews.cnet....html?tag=search

It took care of the problem.

My system also had a virus, and I bought McAfee virus protection (it was only $10 with a rebate!) and took care of that one too.

Good luck!

I use Spybot as well. Download it and run it and you should be popup free.

I use Ad-Aware, which you can get at lavasoft.nu Also, you could try using the mozilla web browser, which is free and automatically blocks pop-ups. http://www.mozilla.org Or, if you are attatched to IE, you can download the google toolbar from google.com, which includes a utility to block pop-ups. Ad-Aware or Spybot is your best, though, because that will get rid of the source of the pop-ups, rather than just blocking them. :)

I just downloaded Ad-Aware and it found some spyware that Spybot missed - thanks!
