Is there a time limit on note pad stuff?

this might be a strange question but  I was wondering how long you can leave something in your note pad for.  I had something there which has gone - nothing important but it made me wonder if there was a time limit on material there.

Weird, weird weird! I thought that was permanent! I need ot look into it. thanks for letting me know!

it may well be- it is quite possible that I did something to mess it up!
