Hey, I posted this in the announcements forum, but it's very important so I want to reiterate it here.
The mods want to issue a reminder to keep our members safe. We do our best to screen new members by IP address, but we of course cannot legitimize every member here. As a result, we just want to remind you of an important guideline. Nothing spurred this; we just like to remind members of this from time to time.
Our official policy here is you should not share any personally identifying information with another member. That is the best way to ensure your safety. While we understand that members form close friendships with each other, we ask that you not share information such as your full name, address, or phone number. If you do choose to share information with another member, please do not use the board, including PMs, to do so (this is for legal reasons).
While we're on the topic of safety, we've noticed some members have signed up for the board using email addresses that contain their full name, or school ids that could easily be used to track that person. If you have done so, we encourage you to open a new anonymous email account from a free provider such as yahoo mail or google mail.
If you have any questions on this important safety guideline, please drop a PM to one of the mods.
Take care!
Shannon
