I have a friend who has a strong pattern of emotional abuse, intermingled with physical and sexual abuse from a very early age. Almost nonstop.
She's a bit hesitant to join Pandy's.

Are there any brief summaries of what constitutes emotional and psychological abuse that I can link to her?
Like I said, she has chosen to not join Pandy's so it would need to be a public source, here or otherwise.
I've scanned the forums but only one jumped out at me.

Thanks!
JH

Jediheretic, hi.

There was recently an open-access article in Pediatrics :

Hibbard, R., et al. (2012). Psychological maltreatment. Pediatrics, 130(2), 372-378.

Abstract here, with a link to a PDF.

OK, some of these links might not be necessarily directed to child abuse per se, but the same applies if the emo/psych abuse has been done to an adult and child and I feel she could relate to them.

Hey Jediheretic,

The Article section of Pandy's is open to guests (meaning she wouldn't have to join to view them) and has a lot of really incredible articles that deal with the many facets of abuse and recovery. I'm not sure there is a general article in there pertaining to general emotional abuse, but there are a few that deal with relationship violence that might be applicable to her situation.

I hope she's able to reach out and find the support she needs.
