If you watched Six Feet Under, the scene where Nate is burying his wife (the Lili Taylor character) in the desert

Being interrupted, esp. by men, esp. esp. older men

Refrigerators left out in the street, in the trash (when I was little, there were public safety commercials about how that was dangerous to do because kids could get trapped in them and die)

Horror movies, esp. one that I'm too scared to write out

Getting presents I don't want and having to fake that I like them

I discovered a new one a while back.. the perfume Fantasy (by Britney Spears)

I wore it every single day in 10th grade (aka, while experiencing the most of the traumatic stress), and then I ran out of it.. one day last year, I walked by a girl in the hallway and she had it on, and that triggered me almost instantly. It wasn't until then when I realized that it's a trigger.

Also, my mom's magnolia lotion, although I think she ran out of it.. the smell of that was a pretty bad trigger too.

There is the sound of a certain type of bird too.. it lives somewhere around here, and I have no idea what kind of bird it is, but it chirped every morning while I stood outside waiting for the bus, and I heard it once last year and that triggered me too.

Being alone in the room with a man sitting closer to the door than I am, unless it's my hubby, son or friend.
Certain musical chords my dad used to play on the piano.
Men jiggling their keys in ther pockets.
Anybody telling me what to do, especially a man.
Being touched in a certain area of my privates.
Having people walk behind me.

Listening to Me And A Gun on CD

What makes that wierd is the fact that I can sing that song myself as much as I want and never be triggered by it. But listening to it on CD gets me every single time.

I find that a little freaky, personally.

Stesha

I have the exact same problem.

Vinyl-covered car seats,
that guys-in-the-locker-room smell,
cologne,
being in an office with the door closed,
fisher-price toy figures...

Thought I was over the locker-room one, but I went to the gym at a different time yesterday - different crowd, and the smell was hard to deal with. *sigh* Again.

Open conversations about people's first sexual experiences are always pretty tricky. But they don't make me nauseous anymore. Much. (Now, when it gets to be my turn, I say, "The first time I _chose_ to have sex...")

The constant fear-mongering, the incessant images of women as victims, that we get in the news, in commercials, in music... makes me wanna scream. The formula for anything out of Hollywood is: woman-in-jeopardy.
(Big media is one of the most irresponsible industries around...)

Never put this together, but I've always had a hard time standing in line at the grocery store, and now I realize it's the darned magazine racks!

Interesting thread, but whew! Intense, eh?
