ASICK gang has been waging a hate campaign against a sex abuse victim - and taunted him by saying twisted rapist and killer Trevor Hamilton was one of his tormentors.
Abuse survivor David Barr was told Hamilton, the depraved monster who murdered pensioner Attracta Harron as she returned from morning mass over six years ago, had joined in making his life hell in an ongoing 14-year campaign.
The Co Tyrone man suffered horrific sexual abuse at the hands of his greatuncle, Brian Mc-Bride, from the age of nine to 18.
David bravely broke his silence to expose window cleaner McBride as a sinister paedophile who had been preying on young children for years.
Predator Mc-Bride was jailed for just five years for abusing David and robbing him of his childhood and teenage years. Speaking out should have been the end of David's horrendous ordeal - but instead one living nightmare became swapped for another. The Strabane man descended into drug-taking to cope with the flashbacks of the countless times he had been brutally raped by his sick great-uncle. But as he struggled to cope with the devastating aftermath of being abused, a twisted gang chose to pick on, torture and humiliate him.
David said: "The hardest part for me, since I told people about what happened, was the abuse I got from some so-called friends in Strabane.
"I started to get labelled a homosexual - a paedophile. I was a victim not the perpetrator.
"I confided in a couple of people about the abuse, but then I got a letter sent to my house saying all this disgusting stuff about me sexually and calling me gay."
Then David and his family woke to find sick comments about him daubed on the fence outside his home.
That was the beginning of a hate campaign that has dogged David ever since, driving him to the edge of suicide and triggering more disturbing memories of his evil great-uncle.
David said: "I can never forget about the abuse but these people will not allow me to even try to move on. It brings back the hurt and what he did to me every time they taunt me.
"One guy is always giving me verbal abuse, shouting at me and calling me 'gay' when I walk down the street.
"That's been going on since I was around 23 or 24. When these bullies are out on the street drinking during the summer is when they shout things the most.
"Men winking at me in the pub, thinking it is funny. It's sick."
Last year David's tormentors, who are men and women, mostly aged in their 20s, stepped-up their vicious campaign by sending nasty texts to his phone.
The mental torment took an even more sinister turn when David was at a party early last year which included a woman aged in her mid-20s who had taken to taunting him.
David believes the girl is friendly with killer Hamilton and kept in contact with him when he was in jail.
He said: "There were rumours she also visited him. But then at this party she started laughing and handed her mobile phone over to me and said 'there's someone who wants to talk to you'.
"I didn't know who it was, there was just a man's voice at the other end laughing saying 'I bet you don't know who this is'.
"I kept asking who it was I was speaking to, but he just laughed and refused to tell me.
"The girl was clearly getting a kick out of it and laughing at me getting more angry at whoever was laughing down the phone. I've blocked out what he said.
"It wasn't until after that someone said to me it had been Trevor Hamilton on the phone and they had been having a good laugh about it. I think the girl and the others must have thought it was funny in some twisted way. I didn't know if it was him."
Hamilton killed retired librarian, Attracta Harron, 65, in 2003 only four months after he had served three years in a young offenders' centre for raping a 29-year-old woman and a string of sex offences.
The pensioner's body was found in a shallow grave dug by the then 21-yearold Hamilton and he was sentenced to life in prison in 2006 for the murder which shocked Ireland.
David said: "To think that I could have been talking to him makes me sick. I really lashed and freaked out that night."
The Sunday Mirror knows the names of David's twisted tormentors but because of legal reasons we cannot print them.
David got rid of his mobile phone last year when another bully rang before Christmas calling him by his nickname and pretending to be his great-uncle.
David said: "I had been phoned so many times, but nothing like that call. I flipped out I told him ' you are f***ing worse than paedophiles, people like you are more dangerous than them, because phoning a victim of child rape like that is like raping them all over again'.
"These people are cowards and I'll never give in to them.
"They've just seen someone who is in a bad way and they hound on that weakness.
"I've come through hell and back. I've beaten my great-uncle and I didn't commit suicide although I fight it every day.
"I'll never give in to a paedophile and I'll never be beaten by these mindless cowards."
