YWCA

The YWCA provides many services sometimes including free short term counseling for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. They often provide advocates and support through the court process. They can also be a way to find other resources as need. Each center offers different services so contact the one nearest you. To find your local center check out the YWCA Directory. This is an international directory.

They have been great for me and I hope they will be just as helpful for you!

Good people! I was once a staff director of a YWCA that offered shelter and crisis assistance.

The local YWCA was where I began my healing process. I went to counseling there for several months before I was referred to another social services in the area that could give more comprehensive treatment. (I was struggling with severe depression and what turned out to be PTSD, and the counselor at the YWCA recognized I might need a psychiatric evaluation and medication to help me recover. So she referred me to another place while continuing to counsel me for a little while longer.) I think the YWCA might have saved my life. I go to another place now for counseling that is closer to me. I will always be grateful though to the YWCA for helping to set me on the path to healing.
