That was so ironic, hun. I was just coming here (with some hesitation) to post the link for the video for this song. Martina is my all-time favorite ~ she sings these extraordinarily strong songs that speak to real issues. And speaking of angels, her voice is nothing short of angelic. I just saw her for the like the seventh time about three weeks ago with Kaitlyn. Anyway, if anyone would like to see the video (please make sure you have Kleenex handy) the link is http://www.cmt.com It is in the listen/view section, I believe. So very sad - but hopefully it will bring more awareness to this extremely important issue.
Love,
Lisa

Sarah McLachlan-<i>"Elsewhere"</i>
I love the time and in between
the calm inside me
in the space where I can breathe
I believe there is a
distance I have wandered
to touch upon the years of
reaching out and reaching in
holding out holding in
I believe
this is heaven to no one else but me
and I'll defend it as long as I can be
left here to linger in silence
if I choose to
would you try to understand
I know this love is passing time
passing through like liquid
I am drunk in my desire...
but I love the way you smile at me
I love the way your hands reach out and hold me near...
I believe...
I believe
this is heaven to no one else but me
and I'll defend it as long as
I can be left here to linger in silence
if I choose to
would you try to understand
Oh the quiet child awaits the day when she can break free
the mold that clings like desperation
Mother can't you see I've got
to live my life the way I feel is right for me
might not be right for you but it's right for me...
I believe...
I believe
this is heaven to no one else but me
and I'll defend it as long as
I can be left here to linger in silence
if I choose to
would you try to understand it
I would like to linger here in silence
if I choose to
would you understand it
would you try to understand...

Here's the other one I wanted to share w/ all of you. It's an untitled hidden track from the new 3 Doors Down CD, "Away From the Sun". If you're interested in listening, you may find it online titled as "This Time". Also, I'll freely send it to anyone who wishes to provide me with an email address. I simply love sharing this song with people! :) So here it is. (*(*(Lisa)*)*) Darling, this is for you.
Unsure of yourself,
You stand all righted and now,
We sure will lead you there
Last time you fell, and you hit hard
Your wounds have healed by now,
But you still see your scars, yeah
But it's not the way it used to be right now
You've come so far to just let this go, my friend
Don't go out the same way you did the last time
You'll break when you fall,
Don't make the same mistakes you did all over
You've got to believe in yourself this time.
Live on, live it up today
This life's your cup
So drink it up I say, yeah
Say it's mine so give it all up to me now
And walk that line
Don't let this go my friend.
Don't go out the same way you did the last time
You'll break when you fall
Don't make the same mistakes you did all over
You've got to believe in yourself, this time
This time
Life's your cup, life's your cup
Drink it up
Life's your cup, life's your cup
The same way you did the last time
You'll break when you fall
Don't make the same mistakes you did all over
You've got to believe in yourself, this time
The same way you did the last time
You'll break when you fall
Don't make the same mistakes you did all over
You've got to believe in yourself this time.
**Just a side note, guys, for those of you who may listen to this song. I'm not sure those lyrics in the first couple of lines are correct, but they're what I got off of a webiste I found, & they are close, at least. :) Feel free to update or correct them!

This is just a call to let you know
There's nothing on these shiny videos
And throw away your teenage magazines
They sap away what little is still remaining of your self esteem
...You know
Here's a day to last for a while
A run toward the guns and you're out in style
Here's your golden opportunity
To take these things that scare the shit out of you and put them all on me
...You know
Give me all your demons
They don't scare me now
You waste your days away on things so small
These concerns are no concerns at all
The demons gather round to wreck your day
But let me show you this fear for what it really is and see them fall away
...And it's over
Give me all your demons
They don't scare me now
I got to know this band pretty well and the singer saw the scars on my arms. Now whenever they play and he sees me in the audience he keeps eye contact with me and sings it to me. It's not much but it means a lot to me. :)

"Road to Nowhere" by Ozzy Osbourne
I was looking back on my life,
And all the things I've done to me,
I'm still looking for the answers,
I'm still searching for the key,
The wreckage of my past keeps haunting me,
It just won't leave me alone,
I still find it all a mystery.
Could it be a dream?
The road to nowhere leads to me.
Through all the happiness and sorrow,
I guess I'd do it all again,
Live for today and not tomorrow.
It's still the road that never ends.
The wreckage of my past keeps haunting me,
It just won't leave me alone
I still find it all a mystery,
Could it be a dream?
The road to nowhere leads to me.
Ah Ah
The road to nowhere's gonna pass me by
Ah Ah
I hope we never have to say good-bye.
I never wanna live without you.
The wreckage of my past keeps haunting me
It just won't leave me alone,
I still find it all a mystery
Could it be a dream?
The road to nowhere leads to me. (Repeat 6 times)

"live again" by sevendust
Feeling Nothing
Lonely Empty
You try to walk away but you fall
You cannot understand what's this for
In this world I see it more
The pain you feel that I ignore
You see my face and then you see
nothin'
Confused. you turn and live on
I turn my face
You're staring back again
Look at yourself and live again
Can't see me. you feel me
Want me. you'll find me
I'll be your everything
Will you call
You'll need more & more
When you fall
In this world I see it more
The pain you feel that I ignore
You see my face and then you see
nothing
Confused. you turn and live on
I turn my face
You're staring back again
Look at yourself and live again
How many times have you looked
At yourself & felt mistreated
How does it feel to know that
This life of yours is real
All of your life you've been led
To believe your nothin'
So look at yourself and start to live
again
You see my face and then you see
nothing
Confused you turn and live on
I turn my face
You're staring back again
Look at yourself and live again
If you don't change you'll be nothin'
So look at yourself and live again
I turn my face
You're staring back again
So look at yourself and live again

This song really touched me... it showed me that even though God doesn't want me to ever have to go something this horrible, there is a reason that he wants me to go through all the pain of healing instead of just taking it all away, because God can take something even as horrible as this and use it for something good. The song is by Ginny Owens and is called "If You Want Me To."
<center>The pathway is broken
The signs are unclear
I can't find the reason why You led me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I will go through the valley
If You want me to
Now I'm not who I was
When I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise
You're not through with me yet
And if all of these trials can make me like You
I will go through the fire
If You want me to
It may not be the way I would have chosen
'Cause it leads me through a world that's not my home
But You never said it would be easy
Only that I'll never go alone
When the whole world turns against me
And I'm all by myself
And I can't hear You answer my cries for help
I'll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I will go through the valley
If You want me to</center>

So you lit her cigarette
You're feelin' pretty good
You think you've got a shot
Most girls you probably would
Yeah this is that kind of place
But she ain't that kind of girl
You're readin' it all wrong
Let me tell you about her/
She only smokes when she drinks
She only drinks now and then
Now and then when she's tired
Of bein' let down by men
You can give her a light
But it's not what you think
Everybody knows she only drinks alone
And she only smokes when she drinks
Did you ask her to dance
Let me guess, she told you no
Got to take her some place quiet
And see how far that goes
Oh, don't take it all that hard
When she smiles and turns you down
For a complicated girl
She ain't that hard to figure out
She only smokes when she drinks
She only drinks now and then
Now and then when she's tired
Of bein' let down by men
You can give her a light
But it's not what you think
Everybody knows she only drinks alone
And she only smokes when she drinks

Beer For My Horses
Well a man come on the 6 o’clock news
Said somebody’s been shot, somebody’s been abused
Somebody blew up a building
Somebody stole a car
Somebody got away
Somebody didn’t get too far yeah
They didn’t get too far
Grandpappy told my pappy, back in my day, son
A man had to answer for the wicked that he done
Take all the rope in Texas
Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys
Hang them high in the street for all the people to see that
Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune
We’ll all meet back at the local saloon
We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds
We’ve got too much corruption, too much crime in the streets
It’s time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground
Send ’em all to their maker and he’ll settle ’em down
You can bet he’ll set ’em down ’cause
Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune
We’ll all meet back at the local saloon
We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune
We’ll all meet back at the local saloon
We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
Jason Mraz -- Remedy (I Won't worry)
I saw fireworks from the freeway and behind closed eyes I cannot make them go away
Cause you were born on the fourth of july, freedom ring
now something on the surface it stings
that something on the surface it kind of makes me nervous who says that you deserve this
and what kind of god would serve this? We will cure this dirty old disease
if you've got the poison I've got the remedy
the remedy is the experience. It is a dangerous liaison
I say the comedy is that its serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words
I say the tragedy is how youre gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on
So shine the light on all of your friends because it all amounts to nothing in the end.
I wont worry my life away.
I wont worry my life away. ...

I've dealt with my ghosts and faced all my demons
Finally content with a past I regret
I’ve found you find strength in your moments of weakness
For once I’m at peace with myself
I’ve been burdened with blame, trapped in the past for too long
I’m movin’ on
I’ve lived in this place and I know all the faces
Each one is different but they’re always the same
They mean no harm but it’s time that I face it
They’ll never allow me to change
But I never dreamed home would end up where I don’t belong
I’m movin’ on
I’m movin’ on
At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me
And I know there’s no guarentee’s, but I’m not alone
There comes a time in everyone’s life
When all you can see are the years passing by
And I have made up my mind that those days are gone
I sold what I could and packed what I couldn’t
Stopped to fill up on my way out of town
I’ve loved like I should but lived like
I shouldn’t
I had to lose everything to find out
Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road
I’m movin’ on
I’m movin’ on
I’m movin’ on
I like Waitin' on Sundown too. Knights in shineing armor anyone?? Wish one had found me
Jimmy was waitin' on Shelby Jean
In the parking lot at the Dairy Queen
He knew she's gonna be there soon
Then they'll blow this town
Like a cheap balloon
She came in cryin' this morning at the store
Said, I swear Jimmy, I just can't take no more
So he quit his job and drew his pay
Now he's helpin' Shelby make her getaway
Oh...sittin' on go
Waitin' on sundown
Waitin' on sundown
No more beatin' to be denied
No more bruises that makeup can't hide
All these years she's tried to love that man
But all he ever gave her
Was the back of his hand
Now, Jimmy is a young boy
Just out of his teens
So many things that he still hasn't seen
But he's old enough to know wrong from right
That's why he's helpin' Shelby
Make her break tonight
And oh...sittin' on go
Waitin' on sundown
Waitin' on sundown
Waitin' on sundown
Drove all night drove all day
Jimmy listened to everything Shelby had to say
How she'd suffered at her lover's hand
He said honey I wanna change all that if I can
They pulled over to take a little rest
Shelby put her head down on Jimmy's chest
And she could hear the beatin' of his heart
And it sounded like the rhythm of a brand new start
And oh she's gonna let him know
She's waitin' on sundown
She's just waitin' on sundown
Yeah they're waitin' on sundown
Waitin' on sundown
They're waitin' on sundown
I'm a DJ so I could go on and on about the ones that make me feel better (especially when stuck at work) but these two are at the top right now.

Close to home. Fuels me for kickboxing ;)
Hole- Asking for it
Every time I stare into the sun
Angel dust and my dress just comes undone
While I rocket to the end
Do you think you can make me do it again?
Was she askin' for it?
Was she askin' nice?
Oh? She was askin' for it?
Did she ask you twice?
Nice little angry song for all of you Grrrrrls out there....
But if I just want to forget for a few minutes, anything by David Gray or Natalie Merchant helps... nice rhythms,,,great voices, real talents.

Step by step
Heart to heart
Left right left
We all fall down,
Like toy soliders.
It wasn't my intention to mislead you
It should have never been this way
What can I say?
It's true, I did extend the invitation
I never knew how long you'd stay.
When you hear temptation call
It's your heart that takes, takes the fall.
Won't you come out and play with me?
Step by step
Heart to heart
Left right left
We all fall down
Like toy soliders
Bit by bit
Tears apart
The battle wages on
For toy soliders
It's getting harder to wake up in the morning
My head is spinning constantly
How could it be?
How could I be so blind to this addiction
If I don't stop the next one is going to be me.
Only emptiness remains
It replaces all, all the pain.
Won't you come out and play with me?
Step by step
Heart to heart
left right left
We all fall down
Like toy soliders
Only emptiness remains
It replaces all, all the painWon't you come out and play with me?
Step by step
Heart to heart
left right left
We all fall down
Like toy soliders.
Winter - Tori Amos
Snow can wait, I forgot my mittens
Wipe my nose, get my new boots on
I get a little warmer in my heart
When I think of winter
I put my hand in my fathers glove
I run off where the drifts get deeper
Sleeping beauty trips me with a frown
I hear a voice "you must learn to stand up for yourself
because I can't always be around."
He says when you make up your mind
When you gunna love you as much as I do
When you gunna make up your mind?
Cause things are gunna change so fast
All the white horses are still in bed
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change, my dear
Boys get discovered as winter melts
Flowers competing for the sun
Years go by and I'm here still waiting
Withering where some snowman was
Mirror Mirror where's teh crystal palace
But only I can see myself skating around the truth
Who am I?
But I know dad the ice is getting thin
Hair is greay and the fires are burning
So many dreams on the shelf you say
I wanted you to be proud
I always wanted that myself
He says when you make up your mind
When you gunna love you as much as I do
When you gunna make up your mind?
Cause things are gunna change so fast
All the white horses have gone ahead
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change, my dear

I watch how the
Moon sits in the sky in the dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
The sun doesn't give life to the moon to assuming
The moon's going to owe it one
It makes me think of how you act to me
You do
Favors and then rapidly
You just turn around and start asking me about
Things you want back from me
I'm sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed -
While I find a place to rest
I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
[You'll see it's not meant to be]
I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head
Maybe someday I'll be just like you and
Step on people like you do and run away
The people I thought I knew
I remember back then who you were
You used to be calm, used to be strong
Used to be generous but you should've known
That you'd wear out your welcome
Now you see
How quiet it is all alone
I'm so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest
I'm so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed -
While I find a place to rest
You try to take the best of me
Go away

Forgotten~Linkin' Park
From the top to the bottom
Bottom to top I stop
At the core I've forgotten
In the middle of my thoughts
Taken far from my safety
The picture is there
The memory won't escape me
But why should I care
There's a place so dark you can't see the end
[Skies cock back] and shock that which can't defend
The rain then sends dripping an acidic question
Forcefully, the power of suggestion
Then with the eyes tightly shut looking thought the rust and rot and dust
A spot of light floods the floor
And pours over the rusted world of pretend
The eyes ease open and its dark again
In the memory you'll find me
Eyes burning up
The darkness holding me tightly
Until the sun rises up
Moving all around screaming of the ups and downs
Pollution manifested in perpetual sound
The wheels go round and the sunset creeps past the
Street lamps, chain-link and concrete
A little piece of paper with a picture drawn floats
On down the street till the wind is gone
The memory now is like the picture was then
When the paper's crumpled up it can't be perfect again
Now you got me caught in the act
You bring the thought back
I'm telling you that
I see it right through you

"better than you" - Moist
i've sold out every memory i have borrowed i have bought from you
these pictures run like water to dilute me lay me over you
and i thought that this would be so right
and everyone and everyone is better than you
i've felt each slow perversion fosters dying killed the truth in me
gone quietly gone completely cold reminder what you tried to be
and i knew that this would be so right
and everyone and everyone is better than you
and it's hard and it's hated and it's hard
and if so and if so
and everyone and everyone is better than you
