If You Were My Sister or Brother... What would you say?

If you were my sister or brother I would tell you I love you, this is not your fault and that nothing you could tell me could ever possibly make me think differently of you or make me love you any less. I would then tell you that we are in this together and we will get through it together.

If you were my sister or brother I'd tell you that I'll always be here w/you. I'd let you know how much I admire your strength & your courage, even when you don't believe it's there. I'd thank you for the lessons you've taught me. I'd thank you for allowing me to be me & for being such a special part of my life. I'd thank you for showing me the true meaning of unconditional love & I'd ask you never to leave...

Jackie

If you were my sister I would tell you how amazingly strong you are for making it through that pain. You are truly brave for all that you have lived through. None of this was your fault and you did nothing wrong. You did what you needed to in order to survive and that is just plain amazing. I admire you, my sister.

Thank you. (Especially for the "You did what you needed to in order to survive and that is just plain amazing." part) =)

If you were my sister or brother I would first hold you in my arms and let you speak and be heard. I would let you cry and yell and scream.

Then I would look you in the eyes and tell you that it wasn't your fault no matter what and that even if you do not believe that now, that one day you will.

I would hold you again and promise to be your shoulder and yuor ear for as long as it takes, and to make damn sure you know you are never alone.

(maybe that's what I wish MINE would do I guess...)

If you were my sister/brother I would tell you that no matter how you feel about yourself, there will always be love and support in this world for you.
You are no less of a person because someone took something away from you

This is a truly inspirational thread

If you were my brother or sister I would just listen to your heart until you were done and look into your eyes with compassion and understanding. I'd let you know I care and just be with you and if you allowed me to, give you a safe warm hug. Then if you asked what I thought or needed to hear from me I'd say: You are fearfully and wonderfully made, not a mistake for God doesn't make any. When____________happened to you God cried for the choices others made against you as a person and for how their choice hurt you. It wasn't your fault, you did nothing wrong, the person who made the choice did, it is a reflection of them. Then I'd ask if I could pray with you for your healing, comfort and strength.

"You are no less of a person because someone took something away from you." Thank you so much for saying this!

It's nice to read these again. When i read them I almost believe it's not a reflection on me- what happened.

If you were my brother or sister (and you ARE)

I'd tell you I see the beauty you can't see

And, if you could see what I see in you,

There'd be nothing, love, that you could not do.

(This is from a poem I wrote that you can view on my website under "Meditations.")

Wonderful thread!
