Hi Mods and All, I'm very happy to be in this new place, feels really good and feels like the most natural thing I ever did.
I've got a question: this thing about members making me a friend, or making me their friend, or however you say that. If I've only just arrived here, how can people make me a friend?
I mean, its not like they've chatted with me or really 'got to know me', in a virtual sense, so why do they click on me to make me a friend.
Now its not like I'm an antisocial, although social skills are def not of my strengths. But in real life you'd get to know someone a bit before you decide to think of them as a friend. You spend time with them, share a few stories, look at what you've got in common etc. So I was thinking, it seems a bit too soon to be making friends here as I've only just arrived.
I really like that I come straight out and ask about something I'm not sure of. Well people in general are a fairly mystifying quantity, I really don't get a lot of stuff around socialising and social skills. This place where I'm living now seems to be full of people I find it really difficult to communicate with, and I come along to Pandys and in a matter of days two people want to be friends.
I'm not being cautious or suspicious, I'm just asking around what the general meaning of friends is, on this forum.
I notice I'm not accustomed to people coming up and being friendly, and was surprised and a bit overwhelmed by it.
Nice, I felt sadness in me cause I realised I'm not used to people coming up to me to be friends, this board is going to be very healing for me.

I think that different people have different reasons for adding friends here, some people like to get to know people more in depth before adding a person while others like to add people in order to get to know them.

Hi Hope,

I wanted to echo what Lucy said! I also wanted to let you know that our board software does funny things at times. Several months ago I saw where it had automatically made everybody whose username started with "S" a friend of everybody whose username started with "T" - within the space of 3 minutes. It's a weird glitch - so sometimes the friend request you get might not actually have been sent by that member but by the board gremlins ;)/>
