My treatment staff (TS) assisted me with the bread making process but there wasn't too much talk therapy. The most important aspect of it was letting her know WHY I was smacking the bejeesus out of some dough ("I'm thinking of my abuser") and letting her know why I chose to mix the dough with my hands ("The little girl in me wants to make a mess"). Otherwise, I swore about things only silently. It was very productive and felt very natural and I was so glad I had a therapist join me in the process...why? Because I've wrestled with my feelings as best I could ALONE all my life. Just having someone there was in itself validating...she too could see my rage, the pain on my face, the inner turmoil as I got all this junk OUT of me. Not the end of this story, but I can finally sleep a little without being afraid :)
