Matt was a smart kid, he was good in school, attentive to friends, and the only thing he loved more than baseball was his family. He dreamed of growing up, going to LSU and being successful in baseball or in the field of science,.. Today is Matt's 34th birthday and there is no doubt in my mind that Matt would be living his dream in the field of science, and his compassion and big heart would have made him a great father/husband/boyfriend except for that he is dead. On September 20, 1991 he took his life with his father's shotgun because his cousin weeks earlier had raped and stabbed his best friend and he felt like he could have done more to save her. I miss you my friend and please know where ever you are in the universe that I do not blame you for what your cousin did.
