Description Jim Finley is a clinical psychologist specializing in healing from trauma, particularly sexual trauma. But he is also an abuse survivor (as he reveals in his talks and DVDs). Equally importantly, Jim has been deeply involved in meditation, from both Catholic mystical perspectives as well as Eastern (Buddhist) perspectives for nearly his entire life. Jim was formerly a monk at Gethsemane Abbey, where he studied under Thomas Merton, one of the world's leading experts on Zen Buddhism as it relates to Catholicism.

In addition to leading workshops and retreats (some of which are now recorded on DVD) Jim has just released a new DVD set called Transforming Trauma, which focuses on the recovery from abuse and assault.

I cannot recommend Jim's stuff highly enough, if you are an abuse survivor (or supporting one!) and understand the importance of the spiritual as well as the emotional or psychological aspects of recovery.
