my daughter (a 5yo) is currently going through her trail beginnings and it appears (from her story and my memory) that she waited almost a year to me (her mother). Does that mean that physical evidence could have healed already? What if it was full penetration (through the hymen)? I have not questioned her as directed by our detective to protect her story and her CAC interview. Also the offender is currently being charged with aggravated rape. On myth 6 does that mean he could possibly be found not guilty? or if found guilty still only serve one year in prison? (the sentence is LIFE)

This article helped me understand my own reactions to my own abuse a lot better. People are often asking me 'why did you wait until you were in your 20's to tell someone' i couldnt really answer them and always felt somehow judged or guilty.. But after reading this list i understand that is the most comon reaction and now i feel a lot more grounded. Thanks for sharing.
