Insomniacs

Why is it that so many of us seem to be insomniacs? I've noticed, and not for the first time, that many of the people on this site post in the early hours of the morning. I couldn't stop crying around 1 am last night. Most of my bad moment come early/late at night. It seems it's that way for a lot of people. Why is that? Is it because that's when most of us are alone? Or are we just unable to sleep? I'm very curious to know this. If anyone has any insight they'd like to share please do.

I can only really speak for myself, but I don't sleep and get worse at night for a number of reasons. Partly because I don't let myself sleep so I can avoid the nightmares, partly because I'm scared of the dark, partly because I get lonely and partly because I'm actually an insomniac too. Even when I do let myself sleep, I can't actually do so and I don't end up sleeping for that long. Hope that helps a little =)

I think it is a combination of a lot of things for different people...but generally we are more emotionally vulnerable when we are tired and so it would make sense that if you are awake at night and thinking of painful things it would be hard to regulate your emotions in that moment. The same thing happens for me in the morning.
