it is little wonder that rape is one of the least-reported crimes

perhaps it is the only crime in which the victim becomes the accused


and in reality,

it is she who must prove

I am finding the books more insightful than my counselling or "supports""

i find it strange to revisit books that claimed that i would recover

or reclaim my childhood

or reparent myself

are more validating than

the counsellor of the day

now if i can take my notes from all of these books

As a child, I was gang raped by relatives at birthday parties

In high school, I was at a party where a classmate was gang raped.

In university, my perps acted in pairs, covering for each other.

My abusive boyfriend was one of these types of perps.

My rapist is different from him.

She is the only perp in my adulthood

her death was posted

in a newsletter

I wanted to contact her sister

she had been a support

around my brother's suicide

I ended up telling friends from uni

about her death

4 years later when my sister died

my baby brother

to another hospital

and after waiting

48 hrs

a friend told me

that a friend had died

and the funeral was the next day

she had taken crisis calls from me

and waited until I was back

before telling me
