my voice sits in the shadows
resting on window sills
writing messages on foggy glass

waiting for someone
on the other side
to come around

hoping for someone
someone from out there
who doesn't know my scars

to see me as beautiful

to catch the icicle tears
and warm our barren cheeks
from the ageless cold of the darkness

my voice lingers on dusty shelves
in molding books
no one reads

waiting for eager eyes
for new fingertips
for a genuine love

because here
there is none

no light
no vision
just silence

and condensation
reflections of our ghosts as
lives pass by

here
there exists only chains
skeleton forests
chasing lions to shred our fabric souls

here we wait
we sit through time
through pain
through scars mold aches

shivers trembles emptiness and wire cages
we suffer clipping our wings
and forgetting how to fly free
forgetting there is even a sky

here
we are all alone
abandoned to our individual shelves
where only the dust mites
roaches
and abandonment will hold us
