"You're going to do a piece on the great, white, Canadian North for the National Geographic." This is what I've been telling myself to convince myself assured frost bite is worth it - that and, "those polar bear shots will put MasterCard 'priceless moments' to shame."
My mom moved to Edmonton last winter. She bought me a ticket for Christmas, leading to this note to self: next time you don't want to freeze your ass off, don't tell mom you'll come over if she pays the ticket.
My Gmail notifyer a half hour later: "you've got 'Montreal-Edmonton plane ticket'."
Seriously though, I'm kind of looking forward to it. So long as mom doesn't plan for us to leave the house, it should be fun. Did I say fun? Yes, have fun with mom. Just by hanging out inside.
This is the first time in a long time I've actually looked forward to seeing her.
Lose your best-friend, maybe gain a mom.
She's tried really hard over the last years but I've always pushed her back. Maybe it's time to let go of past grievances she's not even aware you have.
Coming soon to a blog-entry near you: "Dry cold v. humid cold: the debate over whether or not the relative humidity or dryness of your city really has an influence as to how cold 'cold' feels once the temperature goes under -20 anyway." (Because according to mom, cold in Edmonton "isn't as cold as in Montreal. It's more humid there." [Insert 'roll-eyes' smiley]).
