I got a call from the nurse on Thursday, and she told me that I have severe dysplasia and that I must have a LEEP and cone biopsy done. I am scheduled for the 19th and a little nervous about the whole thing. She said that it should be treated with this procedure, but that they will send the biopsy to the lab to make sure they get it all.

I think that the nurse was trying not to worry me because she did not make it sound to dire, but from my research it is not good. From what I have read, severe dysplasia is cervical cancer that has not spread. I don't want to make it out worse than it is, but I want to fully understand it. I have a bad feeling about this whole thing, have from the start.

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. I have had a similar case- in fact, I'm still managing it. The good thing about cervical cancer is it takes a long time to progress, so usually they can remove the cells and then keep monitoring it to make sure there are no further changes. I can understand being nervous, I have had it done more than once and was still nervous the second time. It feels like cramping when it is being done and afterwards, but it's not too bad. You can even take some medicine right before the procedure for the cramps to reduce it a little. Good luck with everything, feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I'll be thinking of you.
