Well, I put off going to the doctor as much as possible. I have had four abnormal paps now, and I am sure that it has to do with the abuse. I have heard a couple of times that childhood sexual abuse can raise the risk of cervical cancer, not sure if that is accurate or not but wouldn't doubt it. I was diagnosed with dysplasia years ago and was treated.
Well, the last time I had an exam was about a year and a half ago and it was abnormal. I was supposed to go back, but didn't. I had another pap on Friday, and the results came back abnormal still, which is not a good sign. Now I have to get a colposcopy and biopsy done on Monday. The nurse said that "there may be something there." What that means, I am not sure, but they are concerned.
Maybe it has been my luck in life, but I am almost expecting there to be something. I have had so many abnormal paps, and usually on the follow up they come normal. No such luck this time, and I didn't have a follow up for at least a year. Well, if something does come back, I will just fight it like I have everything else in my life. Guess we will see.
