Some of the websites listed are only in Icelandic but generally people in Iceland speak English and fairly many speak other languages as well so not speaking Icelandic should not prevent you from getting the support you need!

The National University Hospital of Iceland, located in Reykjavík, runs an emergency reception for survivors of rape, attempted rape and/or other forms of sexualized violence. A team of specialized nurses work there alongside gynecologists, psychologists and lawyers.

Kvennaathvarf, safe shelter in Reykjavík for women and children when they are physically or psychologically abused in their own home by husband or other family members. The shelter also offers assistance for rape victims.

The shelter’s address is kept secret but you can call them and get further information. Their emergency number (561-1205) is open 24/7 for any kind of support and advice.

Stígamót, grassroot organisation offering information and free counceling for adult survivors of sexual violence of all genders, as well as secondary survivors. They also run a shelter, Kristínarhús, for people who are using their services and need a place to stay as well as for people leaving sex work and/or trafficking. Women Of Multicultural Ethnicity Network - W.O.M.E.N. in Iceland

They certainly don’t specialize in SA but I thought I’d list them here anyway as I think they are rather wonderful and might be of help to any non-Icelander residing in Iceland and needing support.

Amongst their activities are weekly peer counseling sessions where trained “counselors provide free and confidential services to women of foreign origin living in Iceland. Peer counselors can give information about services and resources that are available, about life in Iceland and are also available just to chat and with other women.” Check their website for more info.
